Silver Fox

"Oh, Man." I said to him from the ground looking slightly confused and absolutely bewildered.  This man had bumped into me at the grocery store causing me to fall backwards and drop the majority of the contents inside of my store-provided grocery basket.  As he bent down to help me up and pick up the items that had spilled on the floor I looked into his eyes and saw something I'd never seen in anybody else before.

This beautiful man, this beautiful salt and peppered man looking at me with completely beautiful and apologetic eyes.  "I'm so sorry, ma'am... Jeez, are you alright?" It took me a minute to realize he was talking to me.  I shook my head quickly and regained my train of thought, "Yeah, I'm fine... I probably should have been paying better attention to where I was going anyways."  I said looking at him sheepishly.  "Yeah you should've" He said in the straightest voice and tone I've ever heard, and then he burst out into laughter with an "I'm just joking! You should have seen the look on your face!"
I smiled and laughed along with him, because I knew I was probably making a horrible face.

"Sorry, haha. Didn't mean to scare ya, how about we grab some dinner?"
"I normally don't go out to dinner with men who run over me in the grocery store."
"I normally don't run people over in the grocery store."
"I would say true, but for all I know this could be your only pick up line."
"Only? Ouch, that hurts!" He laughs and smiles at me.
We talk for a little more and he persuades me to go home with him.

Telling Stories

Fresh out of school, we were in the heart of a golden age.
Right after we had gotten our acceptance letters to Brown I knew that something special was going to happen to us and our lives.  His voice was sweet and soothing.  Much like sensual elevator music, but his voice wasn't the greatest thing about him at the time.  It was his soothing touch.  Every time he touched me it felt like freshly shaved legs and satin sheets.

We were both undergrads, and fresh out of high school, we were both 18, which was great be
cause back in the 60s the drinking age was lowered, and us, we were one of the lucky ones.
We had gotten ourselves two bottles of cheap wine and brownie mix, and we were absolutely ready to have ourselves a beautiful night in with each other, his pet turtle, and the soothing voice of Donna Summers playing softly in the background as we laid on his carpet staring up at the ceiling together talking about the state of our economy, our favorite pizza toppings, and the debate on whether or not we should get take-out or if we should try to make something weird and utterly spectacular.

The night felt like it lasted forever, but not in a bad way.
When you're spending time with somebody you care for deeply, time almost seems to stand still.  That's exactly what it did for us that night.

Prom

It's your junior year of high school, the year is 1977.
The boy you've been going steady with for almost two years now is about to graduate in a few months, which is great. He'll be free and off and away in college and you will be stuck in the proverbial prison which is high school.

He's ready to get away from it all for good, leave high school and the "wonder years" behind him.  You were you, not too popular, but a dweeb or hated either, you were simply yourself... But then, in your eyes Ira was a legend. He had participated in theater, student government, and yearbook; he was even  the co-editor of the school's literary magazine.  How could he do all of this and still maintain his grades when you could barely do your Pre-Calculus homework?  Even the idea was beyond you.

But he was your man, and he thought you were great too and nothing else really mattered.
He picked you up at your house at around 7, and decided that it would be a funny joke to take a picture with your next door neighbor instead of you.

The night itself was magical, after he picked you up. You two went to the dance and shared tender moments while swaying to the unshaken voice of Shaun Cassidy.  It might have possibly been the best night I've had in my life, because afterwards... in his parents basement we lied together and I lost "it" to him, and it was the greatest experience I ever had.
We were both fumbling and awkward teenagers, which in my opinion made the experience all the more enjoyable.  It was lovely and sweet and I still look back on it with the fondest of memories.
